Don't take my word for it. Audit this page.

The page you're reading right now was built using the same standards I'd ship to you. Run it through Google's tools — they'll grade my work in 30 seconds.

Most freelance dev sites won't survive these tests. That's the gap I work in.

What you get

Every site ships with this baseline

Not as upsells. As the floor.

  • Loads fast on phones — passes Google's speed tests on mobile, not just on a desktop with fibre internet.
  • Found by Google — proper search-engine markup, sitemap, and metadata. Submitted to Google & Bing on launch day.
  • Works for everyone — keyboard, screen-reader, and high-contrast users included. Meets accessibility standards (WCAG 2.2 AA).
  • Looks great on every device — designed mobile-first, tested on real phones, not just resized in a browser.
  • Looks great when shared — link previews actually work in iMessage, Slack, LinkedIn, and X.
  • Eligible for rich Google results — like star ratings, FAQs, and business hours showing right in search.
  • Locked down by default — HTTPS, security headers, spam protection on forms.
  • Yours forever — full source code and deploy docs handed over. No platform lock-in, no monthly hostage fees.

About

A small studio that takes web standards personally.

Most small-business websites are slow, inaccessible, and invisible to Google. That's not because the people who built them are bad — it's because doing it right takes attention that templates and big agencies don't bother with.

Moose Studio is a one-person freelance shop based in Edmonton, working with small businesses across Canada and the US. The differentiator isn't a fancy stack or a clever process — it's that the standards you'd hope every site followed are actually followed here. Every time.

If your current site loads slowly, doesn't work on a phone, doesn't show up on Google, or quietly excludes users with disabilities — those are all fixable. Usually faster than you'd think.

FAQ

Common questions

How long does a website take?

Most marketing sites ship in under 2 weeks once content is in hand. Audits are typically delivered in 3 business days. Larger or content-heavy projects get a clear timeline up front.

Do you work with clients outside Edmonton?

Yes — most clients are remote across Canada and the US. The web is location-agnostic; the work is the same whether you're next door or across the continent.

What stack do you use?

Vanilla HTML, CSS, and JavaScript by default. A static-site generator (Astro, 11ty) for content-heavy sites. A framework only when the project genuinely needs one. Frameworks add weight and complexity that small marketing sites don't need.

How do you charge?

Fixed-price quotes after a short scoping call. No hourly meters, no surprise change orders. You see the number before we start.

Do you do design too, or just development?

Both. For most small-business sites I design and build. If you have a designer or existing brand, I work from your direction.

What about ongoing maintenance?

Optional monthly retainer covers performance monitoring, content updates, dependency patches, and a monthly health report. Most clients start without it and add it later if needed.
